ShotLink has licensed numerous frequencies to assist in scoring each golf tournament. Prior to the beginning of each event the ShotLink staff will monitor the local RF spectrum and choose frequencies that are not in use. Six voice channels will be selected from a list of 16 licensed frequencies, and 6 data channels will be selected from a list of 43 licensed frequencies. One data channel will also be selected for the scoreboards.
These frequencies will be selected on Sunday preceding the golf tournament. It is imperative that proper coordination between local RF vendors providing radios for the tournament staff and vendors occur to ensure the ability of the ShotLink scoring system to function properly. Below is a list of the licensed frequencies used by ShotLink.
The PGA TOUR has completed the implementation of a WiFi data collection system that utilizes the 802.11a frequency band. The specific channels that we use are:
149 5.745 GHz
153 5.765 GHz
157 5.785 GHz
161 5.805 GHz
These frequencies are also used for the distribution of data to the LED Scoreboards.
